THE FACILITATORS
Community Creations’ second edition brings together five Toronto-based Latin American artists and creatives to create & facilitate the workshops.
-
Camila Salcedo (they/she) is a Venezuelan-born, Tkaronto-based interdisciplinary artist working in textiles, community art and curation. Her work is interdisciplinary in nature, and her focus remains consistently on community engagement and sustainable textile practices.
They have a decade of experience teaching textiles and professional development practices primarily to emerging artists, queer youth and BIPOC seniors across Toronto.
-
Andrea Idrobo (she/her) is an Ecuadorian-Chilean visual and textile artist based in Toronto. She works across graphic design and textiles, with a practice rooted in hands-on making and community spaces. She studied Graphic Design in Santiago, Chile, and later completed a diploma in Interactive Media Design at Seneca College, along with studies in photography, pattern design, and art direction for film and television. Her work explores Latin American identity, memory, and storytelling, with particular care for the experiences of women and children. Andrea has shared her work through exhibitions at Sur Gallery, A Space, and the Textile Museum of Canada, as well as at local design and cultural markets, including CREATO, Wychwood Barns, and Evergreen Brick Works’ Day of the Dead celebration. She is part of Watermelon Seeds Collective and Tatreez Circle, where she co-organizes community textile workshops. Alongside her independent practice, Andrea works as an art instructor assistant and enjoys sharing creative processes as a way to build connection and learn together.
-
La Pupila (Valentina Lozano Leon) (she/her) is a Colombian artist based in Toronto. Her art focuses on exploring feminine energy, often with an aura of melancholy. Through symbols, distorted forms and evocative faces, she hopes to illustrate their fears, hopes and desire for a tender world. While her work is deeply personal, La Pupila approaches these themes with a poetic and gentle visual language, creating space for introspection and connection. It is an exploration of memory, emotions and the transformative power of symbols.
-
Alejandra Macouzet (she/her) is a Mexican illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. She studied Fine Arts at the Universidad de Guanajuato in the colourful city of Guanajuato, Mexico, which sparked her love for vibrant colour palettes. Her artwork ranges from cozy colouring books to illustration for animation, and is known for its cute and whimsical style with adorable characters and detailed scenes. She recently self-published a collection of colouring books and loves creating artwork that invites people to slow down and reconnect with their creativity.
-
Andrea CataRo (she/her) is a Toronto-based creative designer and mural artist whose work blends vibrant colour, bold lettering, and cultural storytelling. Drawing from her Colombian-Canadian roots and the natural world, she creates joyful art experiences that invite connection and celebrate community.
